Industry Perspective From One Coast to The Other: Blog Exchange with accomplished Washington photographer Zach Nichols
2020 has been quite the strange year for all of us with some industries getting pushed to near stand-still from the virus. The wedding photography industry is right in the middle of it! I spoke recently with my buddy and superbly accomplished photographer in Washington State, Zach Nichols. (www.instagram.com/zachicholz). As artists and, in general, humans it is good to take account of your journey. Tell your story. Recall where you have come from, where you are and where you are inspired to go. Times like Quarantine can push you to strain in your vision for your life. Some will say[...]
Wrightsville Beach Family Session – Williams Family
The Williams family travel down from Cleveland every summer to soak in some salty air for a vacation at the beach. This year as the kids get older and life flies by they decided to document their vacation with a photo session. There is no typical family session, they all have a level of excitement and a capturing of whatever is going to happen! ;) These guys were great to work with and now have images of memories that will last a lifetime. Till next year!
Engagement Session with Kyle and Jen
We had an epic sunset engagement shoot this weekend! I had spoke with Jen and Kyle about shooting their engagement photos and we had planned to do so around the holidays but frigid temps and scheduling conflicts kept us from being able to do so. There was a reason for this, as there usually is in life! Our rescheduled session was a meant-to-be sunset with epic backdrop of the island where they got engaged! Yes, we shot with that island in view. Truly a beautiful and passionate session!
Sunrise Maternity with Johanna and Sonny
Johanna wanted to capture her final days of pregnancy before her next little arrival. We chose sunrise off the south end for a photo session. God blessed us with a beautiful and clear sunrise for a sweet little maternity session. Always enjoy the capture in the participation with nature!
JJ Grey and Mofro at GFL with the Marcus King Band by Huka Entertainment and 98.3 The Penguin
"Impassioned singing, riff-based Southern rock, cold-blooded swamp funk and sly Memphis soul." --The New York Times Over the course of six albums and a decade of touring, JJ Grey's grimy blend of front porch soul and down-home storytelling has taken him around the world and back again. Beating the streets on nearly every continent, he and his band Mofro have sewn a continuous thread of laying-it-on-the-line shows that move folks to dance and at times to tears. Captures from an incredible sold-out show at Greenfield Lake!
Family Reunion 2016
The family is a haven in a heartless world. ~ Christopher Lasch This past week I have the privilege of having family from California and Texas visit my beach home for a little reunion. Time with family is always good and it was great to capture a few moments to freeze for years to come. Check them out!
Island Life : Escape to Paradise St. John, USVI
I haven't been everywhere but it's on my list." I dig that quote and recently was asked what my favorite place I had visited yet was. Hands-down without hesitation, St. John, USVI. Its a US Territory where 60% of its land area is a national park and protected from building. Rockefeller himself fell in love with this island and donated his holdings as long as the island remain protected. How can you not love this story? There are maybe a couple hotels on the island but the way to visit is to rent a villa and live true island style.[...]
Return to Mars : Antelope Canyon near Page, Arizona
In the fall of 2015 I made a photographer trek out to Arizona/Utah. After a long summer of booming business on the coast of Carolina I needed to refresh my mind and soul. I had long heard of the spectacular views of the West but it had been years since I had made a trip. Amongst other stops one that stood out for obvious reasons was Antelope Canyon outside Page, Arizona. The canyon is a slot canyon formed by rushing waters during rainy season. You get to the check-in and see only dessert all around, then as you walk behind[...]
